Mobile to disaster ( Argument 3 )

Some people believe that using handheld phones should be made illegal while others argue that it is an invaluable convenience. This essay will describe both, the reasons and give example of each one.

There are some people against using mobile phone while driving and support this statement for several reasons. The first one is, if the mobile phones are illegal then the police can stop people on the road. If there is a law then the police are able to enforce it and give people tickets. Another point is, the accident rate will decrease. If people are not using their mobiles, then they will concentrate on their driving. Finally, the traffic fines will help pay for traffic safety programs. With the money provided, the government can improve methods for safety driving.

There are also some people who support mobile phones and disagree with this statement for many reasons. First of all, if you have an important call and don't have a head phone, you have to use the cell phone. There are some calls that can't be delayed and have to be answered even without a head phone. Second of all, you stop and complete your call on the side of the road, but you still can talk from your car. Drivers should be allowed to talk with their cell phones if they stopped their car. Finally, businessmen have to talk with their phones while going to an appointment. They are too busy and can't stop to talk, so the mobile phone use should be legal.

To conclude, some people are against mobile phones and others are not. But I believe it should be legal, as some phone calls are unavoidable.

Starting in 1996, there was a significant difference in the number of visitors from Spain and Japan to Canada. There were almost 300,000 visitors from Spain, compared to 850,000 Japanese visitors. Between 1996 and 1999, the number of visitors from Spain increased sharply to 650,000. While the number of Japanese visitors remained steady until 2001. Japanese visitors, it reached 650,000 in 2006. On the other hand, the number of Spanish visitors was increasing gradually between 2000 and 2004. Then, there was a slight fall in the number until it reached 600,000 in 2006.

Examination (Argument 2)

Examinations have both negative and positive aspects. In this essay I will look at examinations in the HCT and discuss both sides of the argument.

There are some students who think examinations are unfair and support this statement. Many older student don’t have the time to study for the test. They are occupied with their families and jobs. Others believe there are other fairer ways of assessment. They think students’ evaluation should depend on the student’s assignments and work the semester whole instead of a three-hour test. Because examination
can cause nervousness and stress, some students don’t do well in tests. They feel so nervous and unwell, even though they are smart enough to ace them.

While, in the other hand, many students believe an examination is a fair way of assessment and disagree
with the statement. They think examinations provide motivation to study. With their grade at stake, most of the students will work hard and study and that will increase their academic knowledge. Some of them think examinations are a fair way to evaluate students. All students take the same test and there is no differentiation between one student and another. Others think it is a good way to determine what
students have learned in the course and who should pass and who shouldn’t. Even if the student has a million reasons not to pass the test, he shouldn’t pass the course for his own good, because that will affect him later in his job.

To conclude, I believe both sides have many good reasons to support or oppose the statement. But I disagree with it because I think examinations are the best way of assessment for students and teachers.

Censorship in the UAE (Argument 1)

Many countries including the UAE, censor their media from accessing certain kinds of materials by their citizens. Movies with sexual content, textbooks with political ideas and violent video games can be blocked. This essay will discuss pros and cons and some opinions about the censorship in the UAE.

There are many arguments against censorship. Some people feel that they should be free to decide what they watch or read. They think they are mature enough to know what is good and bad. Others feel that censorship is pointless today. Nowadays people can travel to other countries and discuss ideas or read materials unavailable in their own country. One of the biggest objections to government censorship is that much materials is blocked for no apparent reasons. Often useful materials for example in textbooks or medical sites are blocked.

However, there are many reasons why censorship is necessary. Society needs to be protected against violent and sexual materials. Few people would support the availability of sexual movies and magazines. There is very strong support in the society for limits on certain kind of materials for religious or cultural reasons. People expect their government to act to prevent the distribution or availability of forbidden materials or items. Censorship is important because it will prevent children from watching pornography. Children won’t be able to avoid seeing pornographic materials if they are in every bookshop.

In conclusion, people are divided on the issue of censorship. While some people have very strong reasons for objecting to the censorship, others believe that they alone have the right to decide what they read or see. Personally, I feel that all forms of censorship are important.

Obesity in the UAE (problem/solution)

Obesity is one of the biggest problems in the UAE. There are many reasons behind it, one of them is eating too much fast food. Yet there are as well, many solutions that will stop this contagious problem.

One of the main causes of this problem is a non-healthy diet. People eat a lot of fast food at every meal, they even eat a lot of snacks between them. The change in lifestyle is another reason; most people work in desk jobs which don’t require much physical activity and they barely do any exercises. Education might be the most important reason for this problem. People aren’t aware of the danger of food addiction, they think the more they feed the children the faster they grow up.

On the other hand, there are many possible solutions that can stop this “disease” from spreading any further and cure it. Changing the lifestyle is on the top of the solutions list. People have to do more exercises everyday. They should eat a healthy diet and stop eating fast food. They should also learn all about eating a healthy diet and be aware of the danger of obesity.

To conclude, obesity is a dangerous “disease”, but with the right “medicine”, it will be cured. Individuals must take a long view towards the future, recognizing the short-term actions have long-term consequences.

UAE Marriage Fund (cause/effect)

People in the UAE were getting married when they become 16 years old, it was easy and cheap. But these days, however, it has become so expensive. To help people to get married the UAE created an
organization called The Marriage Fund that gives people money to help them get married.

There are many reasons why the marriage fund was created. One of these reason is the abnormally high expenses of marriage. The marriage hall, food and honeymoon expenses cost a lot of money. People used to take a loan to get married. They began their married life with a big loan, that will lead the
marriage to collapse in a few months. The increasing number of marriages to non-Emiratis women is one of the reasons too. The Emiratis men were marrying non-Emirati women because their marriage cost a lot cheaper that that with Emirati women.

The UAE marriage fund has many effects. One of the most important effect is the increasing number of marriages to the Emirati women and decreasing number of the spinsters. Having much money will help the Emirati men to marry Emirati women. Providing money will prevent people from getting loans. People will stop getting loans if the money is provided and with that the marriage will last longer. The increasing rate of the Emiratis population will become higher. With everything provided, many Emiratis
will get married and the Emirati population will increase.

Although marriage in the UAE is still expensive, the UAE marriage fund has successfully reduced the marriage costs. The UAE government has done well by creating it.

TV (problem / solution)

These days, children are stuck to the TV instead of playing outside. This is a problem that might have a bad effect on their mental and physical health. Yet there are many possible solutions to solve it.

The most important problem of watching TV is that it will harm the eyesight and make them obese. Watching TV too much might effect their eyes, and because of the lack of activities they will become obese. Another problem is that it will effect their studies. They won’t pay attention to their studies if they are watching TV. A final problem is that it will effect them mentally, they will become less social and prefer to be alone. Because they are watching TV and have no one to communicate with, they won’t know how to communicate and to be sociable with the others.

There are many possible and easy solutions that will stop this problem. The main one is to limit the viewing times. Parents should limit the viewing time to an hour a day at most. Another solution is to provide activities for the kids. Parents should get sports equipment so the kids can play outside. The last solution is limiting the access to the TV. Parents shouldn’t put TVs in their child’s room. The kid will stay up all night and that will effect his brain.

To conclude, watching TV does have a good side, but watching it too much has a worse effect. People should limit their TV time or not buy TV at all that will be the best solution.

Massacre in the Mall (Narrative 2)

I went to Abu Dhabi Mall to meet my friends when something amazing happened. I saw two men being chased by a police officer.

The two armed men tried to rob a jewels shop. They pointed their guns at the salesmen, but the shop owner sneaked under the table and pressed the alarm button. The robbers saw him and shot him dead. They took whatever they could take and ran away. A police officer saw them running and chased them. They started shooting at him and he was shooting back at them. And because the mall was too crowded, the bullets were hitting the people. One of the bullets hit one of them in his leg. They became a lot slower, so they took some people as hostages and hid in one of the stores. The police came and started to negotiate with the robbers. They gave the police some demands but they didn’t do them. So they killed two of the hostages. After that, the police threw tear gas bombs and attacked. They killed the robbers. There were many losses, 15 deaths and 150 injured.

That was the most amazing and terrifying event in my life. The nest time I go to the mall I’ll be sure to wear a protective vest.
